エイリアンシリーズ

フランスの画家アンリ・ルソーのジャングルとエイリアンをモチーフにしたこのシリーズは、私が子供の頃に見た日本のテレビ番組の影響から描き始めたもので、 過去の回想を求めて作り始めました。ルソーの作品を背景に使ったのは彼の作品の持つ悲しげな雰囲気が回想を求めていた自分の心境と似ているように思えたか らでした。

私の幼い頃1990年代半ばと言えばUFO、ネッシーや心霊現象などを扱ったTV番組がよく放送され、夢中でテレビを観ていました。番組の内容が真実かは わかりませんが子供の頃の私にはすこし衝撃的で夜眠れなくなることもしばしばありました。特にグレイ型と呼ばれるエイリアンが出てくるシーンは不気味で長 い間トラウマのように記憶に焼きつき、同時に科学的ではない神秘主義的な物に興味を抱くきっかけを与えてくれました。

90年代と比べ現在は社会的な価値観も大きく変化し神秘主義より合理主義が進んでいます。

当時のようなテレビ番組も減り、私自身もその流れに逆らう事は出来ず流されるまま当時の記憶はトラウマごと風化したように感じています。その流れに杭を打 ち留まるためこれらの作品の制作を始めました。

そして、これらの作品は自分の奥底に眠った神秘主義的な側面にわずかな光を当ててくれるものなのです。


I began painting this series using motifs from French painter Henri Rousseau’s jungles and aliens, influenced by a Japanese television program I watched when I was young, as a means to look back on my childhood. I used Rousseau’s work as the background of my painting because the melancholy atmosphere of his work felt similar to my own desire for reminiscence.

As a child growing up in the mid-1990s, I was completely absorbed by television, which often broadcasted programs dealing with UFOs, the Loch Ness monster, and psychic phenomena. I do not know how true the contents of these programs were, but it was shocking as a child nonetheless, and I often had trouble falling asleep at night. I was disturbed in particular by the appearance of Grey aliens in one scene, which for a while was etched traumatically into my memory; however, it also sparked an interest in non-scientific mysticism and paranormal subject matter.

Societal values have shifted dramatically since the 1990s, and rationalism has advanced beyond mysticism. Nowadays, there are fewer TV programs on the occult, and I find my memories and traumas simply being washed away, unable to flow against this changing current. I have made these paintings in order to anchor my memories, and perhaps they will shed a light on the mystical side that sleeps deep inside me.
